VMware Horizon Skype for Business on Linux Will Get You Talking About Its Benefits

If you have not heard, VMware announced the release and availability of their VMware Horizon Virtualization Pack, which includes Skype for Business on Linux – and the benefits are something to talk about. Here are some things you might not know that go along with this amazing new, upcoming Linux functionality.

For the first time ever, Skype for Business for Linux is able to be delivered within a virtual desktop environment, while offering a quality user experience. With VMware’s optimized Skype for Business on Linux solution, just like Microsoft Windows, Skype audio and video communications is offloaded peer-to-peer, or entirely to a central multi-party call or meeting. Users can expect secure data during chats and file-sharing, easy and centralized deployment application, and user-friendly collaboration with all devices and platforms. Not to mention… potential, lower associated costs are also possible with choosing communications to be conducted at endpoints, instead of a data center.

Skype for Business on Linux via Thin Client & Zero Client Users First Made Available by 10ZiG

If you have Thin Client & Zero Client endpoint VDI solutions, you’re in luck. If you’ve been considering them, here’s another reason why you should. For Linux (PeakOS™) Thin Client and/or (NOS™) Zero Client user endpoints, 10ZiG has you covered for Skype for Business for Linux. Working directly with VMware, we have fully integrated and made fully operational, Skype for Business on Linux-based 10ZiG Thin Clients & Zero Clients, in addition to our Windows-based Clients. How does this work? A VMware Horizon Media Engine is installed locally to a 10ZiG Client, alongside a VMware Horizon Client, and is then used to do that offloading of audio and video communications peer-to-peer, or to a central multi-party call or meeting that we already mentioned above.
