Are PoE Thin Clients & PoE Zero Clients Beneficial in the VDI World?

PoE Thin Client

Power Over Ethernet (PoE) offers the ability to operate devices, like PoE Thin Clients or PoE Zero Clients, through an electrical current carried by data cables instead of power cords plugged into electrical outlets. It is a technology connection for wired local area networks (LANs) via cable; PoE can combine and transmit both data and electricity via an Ethernet cable.

Advantages of “Power Over Ethernet

No Outlets! Locate a device nearly anywhere; no electrical outlets required.

A PoE Thin Client or PoE Zero Client is not bound by location. You don’t need an electrical outlet… so, location is wherever you want to connect and run a device. Ceilings, outdoors, or simply across the hall in the office where there may not be an outlet… require no electricians, no outlets, no power strips, no hassle. Not to mention, they are quite efficient for moving and relocation.

Run Longer in an Electrical Outage! Easy to maintain devices; operate with utility power.

With Power Over Ethernet, electricity is flowing via a simple, convenient, uncluttered Ethernet cable connection. PoE Thin Clients and PoE Zero Clients provide flexibility as they are easy to maintain. These powered devices are remotely restarted and managed. Should power go out, they will stay up and running if your UPS system (aka battery back-up) that your network switch is on, is charged up.

Think Green! You may actually save money; your VDI environment will be cleaner.

Although some initial spending may occur with a PoE transition, ultimately… your number of wires and related costs for wiring/networking are going to decrease, saving you time and potentially money in the long run. With less power consumption, your VDI environment will be more green; more clean. No need to install power cables and more cubes in large case-use settings, which also leads to less set-up time.

Why Consider PoE Thin Clients & PoE Zero Clients for VDI?

  • Smaller devices with smaller footprints
  • Centralized device management
  • Easy to install and move about
  • Power up and maintain almost anywhere
  • Less power consumption
  • Incredible performance
  • Uncomplicated, user-friendly, effective
